Mom: The glue that holds the home together . . .
It suddenly occurred to me today that perhaps it’s no mistake that Mother’s Day is celebrated in the Spring, that wonderful season of love, hope, youth and growth.
Did you know that the earliest history of Mothers Day dates back to the ancient annual spring festival the Greeks dedicated to maternal goddesses? More recently, mothers were celebrated in the 1600s in England. The day was called Mothering Sunday where children brought gifts and flowers to pay tribute to their mother. On the occasion, servants, apprentices and other employees staying away from their homes were encouraged by their employers to visit their mothers and honor them. Traditionally children brought with them gifts and in other nations have observed similar days.
So in honor of mothers EVERYWHERE, I am offering a 20% discount for any house portrait commissions for Mother’s Day.
Why not surprise your Mom or the woman in your life with a beautiful original portrait of the family home, that captures the warmth and memories of your childhood? Better still, perhaps the portrait can be captured in the Spring! I am very familiar with the changing seasons and can add spring blossoms and flowers to the painting through description, even if spring photos don’t exist. Just get in touch with me!
To help you get into the spirit of Spring, there is a portrait of a beautiful garden I was commissioned to paint along with some of my recent spring house portraits for your enjoyment.
I hope you have enjoyed my spring collection. Don’t forget, if you are interested in a portrait for Mother’s Day, let me know as soon as you can so there is plenty of time for me to create this masterpiece for you!
