The Golden Glow of the Season has now Descended on the World of Watercolor Home Portraits

Where I’m from, fall is in fact called autumn.  I personally think that is a much more dignified name for this beautiful season.  Per Wikipedia, the word autumn comes from the ancient Etruscan root autu- and has within it connotations of the passing of the year. It was borrowed by the neighbouring Romans, and became the Latin word autumnus. … The alternative word fall for the season traces its origins to old Germanic languages.

I did a search online to find out why others think autumn is such a favorite season.

Here is a list of 17 of the most popular reasons fall is so popular, intermingled between these recently completed fall house portraits of lovely homes nestled in this magical season.

#1  First and foremost, the vibrant colors of golds and red that transport you to a different world.

#2 Salted caramel apples are a big favorite at this time of the year along with hot spiced cider drinks.

#3 There is apparently something different and better about the way rain smells in the Fall. (I can’t say I have noticed that one. )

#4 The cold and dampness finally gives you a chance to pull out those cozy sweaters and scarves as well as your favorite raincoat.

#5 As kids back in NZ, we loved Autumn as it rained a lot and we could finally wear our gumboots (known as either galoshes or wellingtons here) and go splash around in the puddles.  I just learned that in Australia and New Zealand, the boots are called “gumboots” as they are made from the rubber tree “gum” or sap. Wellington boots are so named after the Duke of Wellington’s long leather riding boots. Long riding boots are still called Welllingtons both here and in England.

#6  Hot comforting food, like casseroles and meat loaf and soup. Things you don’t feel like in summer.
