Welcome to my Ranch house portrait gallery.
Ranch style homes originated in the United States and can be seen in every state in the country. They initially appeared around the Depression and their popularity bloomed in the 40s. In fact, in the 1950s, most of the newly built homes in the US were Ranch style! As tastes changed over the years, so did the styling of the Ranch home. However, they’ve almost always had these similarities: they’re one story tall, and they tend to have low-pitched roofs. Most Ranch houses are open floor plan and the bedrooms are kept apart from the living/dining room. They’ll usually have a back glass door (usually a sliding door) that leads to the backyard or a patio, and the majority have attached garages. Entire neighborhoods populated by Ranch homes can be found throughout the country, although the popularity of the architectural style waned in the 1970s.
